How body piercing is done?
The professional piercer:
All piercings should be done by a professional. Professionals follow strict rules. One of those rules involves body piercing jewellery minors. Most professionals will not pierce anyone under the age of 18, except for piercing the earlobes. In many cases, a parent must be present even for earlobe piercing. Some professionals will body pierce 16- and 17-year old. However, this happens only if the teen has proper identification and a parent present. In some states, law forbids the piercing of anyone under age 18 without a parent’s consent.
Professional piercers know what sites can be pierced and how to pierce them. Professionals also follow all procedures for proper sterilization.

How piercing is done?
Professional piercers follow several steps during a piercing. First, the piercer cleans the area to be pierced with a disinfectant. Then, two dots are drawn. One dot marks the spot where the needle will enter the body. The other dot indicates where the needle will exit. If necessary, the area to be pierced is clamped. Navel piercings require a surgical clamp. The clamp pulls the skin to be pierced away from the rest of the body.
The piercer inserts a hollow needle through the body part. The size of the needle used depends on the body part being pierced. The body piercing jewellery is attached to the needle. Once the hole is made, the jewelry is quickly pushed through.
